Society Sucks

High school:
Well, its defiantly a roller-coaster (overused saying I know). There are those days when all you want to do is curl in a corner an escape the judging stares of everyone else, then there are those days - usually fewer - where you feel on top of the world, like you could do anything. During the time we spend in school we are supposed the discover ourselves, find out who we are, the way we like to dress, what music we like and what our personalities are in general.
But while society whats this from each person, school seems to set its heart on conforming each pupil into a copy of the one sat next to it. Because all the rules that restrict individuality to a point where the only thing that isn't regulated by the school is what bag you can use. There are even rules on how students hair can be cut and coloured. It's pathetic. Certain hairstyles are considered 'extreme'. How can a hair style be extreme? or offensive?
If we are expected to grow as people then shouldn't school help? They should encourage student diversity, and whilst schools primary focus is learning, someone with pink hair is still very capable of learning, as is someone wearing make up or nail varnish. Because these things are the little things that make people feel more comfortable, and if we are more at ease at school then wouldn't we learn better because we don't fell awkward and out of place.
Rules at school are there to keep us 'safe' (I didn't know hair colour could kill me) they also limit individuality to a point where it is almost nothing.
